Cinnamon maple quinoa breakfast bowl

I'm really trying to investigate with quinoa these days. I'm learning about so many different healthy foods now that we are changing our lifestyle. Eating and experimenting with things I never would've tried before.

Breakfast has always been a really important meal for my daycare kids. They either head off to school after I've fed them or we do our own learning right here in my home. It's best that kids leave the table full and stay full. Too much sugar or not enough protein can contribute to a child's struggle to focus while learning. A great breakfast and a positive morning environment are essential for kids! Schools hard enough without feeding your body things that make it difficult to keep on task. If your child is struggling in school I urge you to examine their diet. Every machine runs better when it gets the right fuel. Our bodies aren't any different.

You need:
1/2 cup of quinoa
1 tbs of butter
1 tbs 100 % pure maple syrup
Water
Cinnamon
Almond or another kind of milk


Make sure you rinse your quinoa before cooking it.

With quinoa you will use a 1:2 ratio so with 1/2 a cup you use 1cup of water. Also 1/2 a cup of dry quinoa will yield about 2 cups cooked.

Place quinoa, water, 1 tbs butter and some cinnamon in a pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling turn down heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 min.

Once cooked fluff with a fork. Mix in maple syrup and add some milk. Slice up and a banana and sprinkle with more cinnamon.

Breakfast is served!
